Failure to me was unacceptable and he knew it

September 22, 2016

She was a tough child who loved to excel in everything which she put her best efforts in. She had fear of failure.

Drawing and Dancing were her favorites. She always used to get appreciation for them – at Home as well as at School. But she does not want to see herself failing at them- not even a single time.

If the drawing was not perfect according to her- she used to tear it apart.ย  Her Mother was concerned and used to deal with this very politely.

Her wish to be perfect was taking a toll on her- she used to get annoyed at every setback.

It was Teacher’s day and school was celebrating it with a dance competition.ย  5 students were shortlisted for the event including her. She was happy and proud.

She got busy in getting ready for the event and asked her Mother for a new dress. Mother agreed and they went to the Tailor, got her dress ready till 10 pm just a day before the event.

The efforts she and her Mother put in, made her more hungry for the win and turned her over-confident.

Event day had come and her fear of failure made her lose. She cursed the judges and went away sulking.

fear of failure

Her friends tried to console her but she was not convinced.

He came, watched her crying and could not help himself saying “Losing and winning are the parts of Life“. He did not expected the reply but she turned back and said pointing a finger towards him”I do not accept defeat from anyone

It was a rude reply but he did not had grudges against her.

This incident did not even pulled hisย heart back when he decided to marry her after 10 years.

The girl was none other than me– I hate that Girl now. I learned to accept the failures with time and my Mother was the person who changed my attitude. Its not that I stopped there but started enjoying the participation rather than expecting wins.

Did you ever fear the failures?

Do you have a similar story to tell?

Failure teaches you, what success would never !!

  • MeOtherwise

Yes upasana, failures are are the way to learn. Its hard but not everything is easy in life right!! The fact that you have brought out is one must accept this truth. ” the fear of failure”.. this is what actually makes one fail.

I remember my 8 year old daughter fearing a recitation compettion, because she was scared she wont win a prize. I had to literally push her up the stage , telling her that its ok, all thats important is the fact that she must render on stage what she has prepared. Somehow that bit of morale boosting helped and she managed to win. But end of the day she understood that it is more important for her to participate thatn just merely win a prize

    • Thanks for sharing the real life lesson. Actually, fear of failure itself is the reason of failure most of the times. I feel some lessons can only be learned through experiences.

Failure teaches a person better than anything else

Failures have made a better person. I don’t get afraid of them as much as I used to before. I am a perfectionist and a winner too.Makes things difficult. But there one can be a winner by losing and fighting their way back too. Nice post. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Mayura Amarkant

It would be incorrect if I say that I don’t fear failure. We all do…in our own way. But yes, some of us have learnt how to fight the fear and emerge as winners..
    Lovely post. Keep writing.

    • Thanks Mayura. Appreciate your thoughts.

Fear of losing is still something I am dealing with, but have also learned to accept failure and come back more strong! Life lessons learnt hard way!

    • Come back is necessary. I think we all learn our weaknesses hard way. Thanks for your presence here.

Absolutely agree! We learn the best lessons in life through our failures!

  • Wonderful navigating your story about fear of failures. With no possibility of failure, the victory might be meaningless. I have a story on Failure too.

  • Mealtotheheart

Agreed with you me too believe failures are pillars of success we will only learn when we fall down

    • I am glad I learned ๐Ÿ™‚ An adult with these symptoms would be a difficult thing.
