Why I Transferred to SiteGround
Recently I decided to change hosting providers from Hostgator after having a few security issues with them. Once I realized that its time to move away from Hostgator, I purchased Siteground hosting. Initially, I bought it for one year, but now I wish I should have done it for 2 years.
Steps for host migration to Siteground
- Create a new account with SiteGround.
- Transfer Website
- Start the process by going to Support and clicking on Transfer Website.
- Fill in your information from current Hosting service (Hostagor in my case) below. The team at Siteground will use this to log into your account and setup your website.
Siteground offers free website migration, which is quite useful for non-technical users like me. Within 2-3 hours I had moved my WordPress site to Siteground hosting.
After the process is complete. You can check where your site is currently hosted by going to www.YOURSITE.com/cpanel
If you see the SiteGround cpanel, your DNS name-servers have been redirected successfully.
So far I’m really happy with Siteground’s customer support as they replies within five minutes of creating a ticket. I also have the option of getting in touch with their friendly support team via live chat.
If you have been planning for host migration, you can consider moving to Siteground. WordPress too recommends Siteground.
It was a tough decision to make as there are so many options and plans. I had limited funds and zero risk taking factor. I am glad I made the right decision at right time as Google will soon going to show insecure for the sites that are not https encrypted. And SiteGround comes with free SSL certificate. I am saved!
I hope this was helpful, please let me know if you have any questions by posting them in the comments below.
