Blog-Life balance….Do we need it?

November 8, 2016

Are you a Blogger who is struggling with Blog-Life balance?

If yes, then something needs to be changed and you need to know how to manage blog while living fully. While I agree that balance is something we need managing Work and Life but blogging is not work; not for me.

Blog and Life need not to be balanced but to be in sync. Is it confusing? Let me explain my point-

Balance implies that two phases are separate and in opposition.

My Blog is a part of my Life; not outside it. Nor Blog opposes my Life or interferes with my Life. Rather, it facilitates my Life.

What does Life means to you? Family? Enjoyment? Socializing? Hobbies? Its totally fine and true to most of us.

But Blogging has it all-

Words you write reflects your Love towards your Family.

Social circle you create while Blogging.

Of course, its our Hobby. That is why we all are here.

And if we are consistent here for some time now, it means we are enjoying it too.

You see- Blog and Life are a perfect blend of each other but not separate. Blogging is all about what we read, see, hear, experience …and nothing else.

Blog and Life are not competitors but go in unison. If you ever find both pulling you in opposite directions, try to bring them in sync with each other.

Of course, Blogging needs your time which means you have to miss some other thing while you are busy blogging- be it doing research, planning, reading, writing or marketing.

For example- Last week, I visited Annual Crafts Mela in our town. I wanted to cover it in my Blog- the diversity, the culture and the variety. But the other side of me was pulling me to enjoy the event with my Family.

I decided to choose the Latter one.

Another instance was little different where my colleagues were engaged in a discussion which was fun, entertaining but not fruitful for me to join. So, I decided to stay back with my Blog.

We all have limited time. We must decide what things are worth spending our limited time on.

This is my personal view which may be different than yours. I would love to know your views on “how to manage blog”?

We definately need the balance that is for sure! I am constantly struggling with this and I think what you say about the similarities of writing about experiences is similar to living them is correct. I have been choosing to live the experiences a lot recently for this reason I’ve taken less photos and I’m okay with that! It is good fun bloggin though, I am glad I have found it!

Thanks for linking up to #familyfun

  • Completely agree. I often want to photograph and document moments for my blog but choose to just enjoy them with my daughter and husband. Also there are days when I want to blog, or want to join a linky to increase my readership. But I’m tired or my husband is a bit fed-up; So I just leave it and watch some TV with him to relax, When you feel like you HAVE to blog (and it’s not your career) then you need to do a sense check! #FamilyFun

Yes! I agree totally. blogging is a fun activity in your own time space and there is no one to sit on top of your head to guide you what to do, this freedom is what I like in blogging the most. Once you find the Balance and the right techniques, blogging is cool

    • You hit the nail on the head Menaka. I want blogging to be cool rather than heating our mind. This is something I do for happiness and if I mix stress with it, the essence will be lost.

Such an interesting read. I’ve actually got a post in draft about bloggers losing sight of reality and this hints at that too – we need to enjoy and love real ,life and not just through our blog! Totally agree and well done for choosing to enjoy the event for what it was #FamilyFun

    • Ya, you are right. There are times when my Blog only gives me happiness amidst real life stress. But we need to rewind and live Life for real. I am glad too that I have chosen the event. Thanks for taking time to read.

  • I often feel like i am juggling knives trying to be a mum , work and blog. I think i bring it on myself and need to learn to rest . #FamilyFun

    • We need to blank the mind for some part of the day. We often juggle but we should stop and relax a while. We should enjoy blogging not feel the burden of it. Thanks for passing by Becci.

  • It’s a tricky one but I love your take on it. I think you have to do it for as long as you enjoy it. If it’s just a hobby then there is no pressure – blog if you want, take some time off if you want. Except it’s not quite as simple as that because if you’re not consistent, you fall behind. Yup – a really tricky one #FamilyFun

    • Could not agree more. Ya,if its just a hobby, we should not miss on Life. Consistency comes naturally when start observing the things. Isn’t it?

  • BigBabyBelly

Totally, I sometimes get so anxious going somewhere when I want to cover it for my blog that I don’t enjoy it, I just spend all the time taking pics and writing witty notes in my phone – CRAZY!!! Thanks for letting me know that I’m not the only one 🙂

    • Its amazing how we tame our heart to weigh between two. But I don’t want to miss on Life while I am sharing it with the world. Thanks for taking time to comment.

  • Yes I totally struggle with blog/life balance. Sometimes you just need to choose family – or even to zone out in front of the TV. It’s tempting to always obsess over what’s best for the blog, but I won’t keep enjoying it if I do that. Great post. #familyfun

    • The whole extract is to be happy- sometimes we choose blog over other things and sometimes the vice versa. Thanks for the visit Nicole.

  • Natasha Mairs

I blog full time as a job and it can be really hard finding the right blog/life balance #FamilyFun

    • You are right Natasha as I too work full-time and juggling it all. But I think if we are not only aimed at earning through our Blog but do it for happiness, we need not stress ourselves.

  • Atulmaharaj

Wonderful piece of information Upasna. It’s true that blogging requires a lot of time and resource management. It’s no less than a project ! So Hats-off to anyone who is blogging consistently !

    • Yes Atul…A toast to all of us that we are taking Life and blog hand-in-hand.Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
