They are friends now- Flash Fiction

July 2, 2016

A crew of children had their favorite playing spot. Every evening when the clock struck 4 and the village is enjoying their siestas, they all used to gather in a field of tomatoes with a tall standing Scarecrow.
They roam around, they run, they fall but never noticed the stillness of this shabby scarecrow who is there to protect the tomatoes.

It was doing this job from last 3 years but failed everyday to protect the tomatoes from one naughty kid. He always managed to steal everyone’s eyes and pluck one each day.

One evening, he reached the field to find no-one else. He was alone and this is first time, he noticed the scruffy figure. He stood in front of him and started talking. There was a confidence in his voice as he knew there will be no reply from the other end. But wait, a heavy voice amazed him. He stepped back and hid behind a bush.

He peeped. A conversation happened and they are Friends now.
