How to be free in this Era when we like being overwhelmed all the time? First thing- Stop using to-do lists and filling up every single minute of your day.
Add some white space into your days:
- A small nap
- Do-nothing but only sit still
- Alone time
- Spending few minutes daily to learn something new; non-work related
- Deep Breathing
We all should create enough white space in our days, in our calendar, in our minds for more joy, more contentment, more connection – to self, to family and to the world around them.
Imagine a room with furniture, small trinkets, statues, vases, paintings, photo frames – full at every corner. You will not be able to appreciate a thing but call it a clutter.
Same goes for our Life- if its full with no space, how would you appreciate something.
Keep provision for the unprecedented and uncertain happenings, to deal with them calmly. This will only be possible when we do not bind every single minute of ours with an output.
You may plan your day to accommodate everything in a single day but then there will be no room for laughter, no peace and no space for silly.
One weekday morning, My Toddler was pushing me hard to go downstairs before heading out for a bath. Only 1.5 hours to leave for Office and I had so much to do – Packing tiffins, taking him to bath, get ready and dropping him to day care. But still I took him and managed to finish almost all chores in time.
If I would not have got up early that day, I would crib or may be yell at my Kid which would disturb the harmony for my whole day.
Add some white space in your routine so that you do have enough time to not to complain-
Having time to be stuck behind a slow driver on your way.
Having time to stand in a long line because a shop’s POS machine was broken.
Having time for an unexpected phone call from a friend.
Having time to sit and cuddle your child.
Having time for creative thoughts.
Having time to help someone in need.
