My first Crowdfunding Campaign

December 1, 2017
first crowdfunding campaign

Today, I launched my first crowdfunding campaign using Bitgiving. It all started with an idea to create “A happy self”.

With the beginning of the new year 2017, I started exploring Gratitude on the advice of other Bloggers including Vidya Sury.

I began with monthly gratitude but realized that I would need it more frequently. I preferred writing Gratitude Journal but it was not as easy as it sounds because it takes time and effort.

It was July when I found an easy way to express Gratitude on daily basis.

I named it “Gratitude Pie“. It is a Pie-style gratitude journal which helps to take note of things we are thankful for.

Hand-drawn Gratitude pie- Things that I am grateful for on a random day

Let’s not get into the details of the project but the crowdfunding campaign I am running to raise money for the project.

There are many levels that took me one step closer to the start of the crowdfunding campaign.

Why do I need to raise money for my Project?

This project is not only for me but for all of us together.

Many scientific types of research have already proved the advantages of being grateful.

Its been called as “key to happiness”. A daily habit of writing gratitude journal has numerous health benefits including:

  • Improves Well-being
  • Improves Relationships
  • Strengthen Immune system
  • Improves Sleep quality
  • Reduces stress and relaxes the mind

Many successful people recommend writing a gratitude journal each day for a happier and successful you. To name a few, Oprah Winfrey, Richard Branson, John Paul DeJoria, Tim Ferriss are the ones who give the credit of their successful and happy Lives to their daily gratitude writing habit.

Its been more than 16 weeks now that I am practicing daily Gratitude. If you want to check out my Gratitude Pie – Click here.

Until now, it’s a manual process which takes time and effort. Moreover, you need pen and paper.

In an Era where we all are on the move, it would be easy for all of us to practice gratitude on-the-go if it goes digital.

Mark my words- Start writing Gratitude journal and you will start experiencing the benefits in 30 days.

Now coming back to my crowdfunding campaign-

Was crowdfunding a suitable option for my Project?

Types of campaign crowdfunding is suitable for:

  • Social Causes
  • Music and Arts
  • Technology
  • Fashion
  • Entrepreneurs
  • Media
  • Personal

My project is basically a Mobile app which can be categorized under “Journal apps”. So, I found my project type falling into 2 categories “Technology- software/apps” and “Personal“.  Its then I decided to run a crowdfunding campaign for my project.

How did I finalize the platform for my first crowdfunding campaign?

I went across so many crowdfunding platforms that it left me confused and baffled.

And then I started again. I made a list based on following factors:

  • Does the platform open for Indian projects?
  • Previous successful campaigns on the platform.
  • Is the platform suitable for my Project?
  • Does the platform offer fixed or flexible funding?
  • What is the transaction fee?

How to make your campaign look promising?

How interesting it may sound but it’s not an easy thing to raise money or to ask people for monetary help.

Things I included in the campaign:

  • About me
  • Short summary of the project with relevant images
  • Aim/Goal of the project
  • What do I need money for?
  • How can people help?
  • Rewards, if any.
  • Pitch video (1-3 mins)

I have 30 more days to call my first crowdfunding campaign, a success or failure. I’ll be talking about it on Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin.

So please stay tuned and support in whatever way you can.

For the rewards in return for your support, check out the campaign here GRATITUDE PIE APP

What a lovely idea. I write a monthly gratitude series now but I do like the idea of writing a daily gratitude journal. I think I will buy myself a new notebook and start writing one in the new year. Good luck with the app and crowd funding ☺ #FamilyFunLinky
